When it comes to air conditioners, you have plenty of options to choose from. But, as it usually happens, everything has drawbacks and so does an air conditioning system. Of course, this does not have to stop you from buying an air conditioner, but it can make you pay more attention when it comes to choosing such a house appliance. Moreover, before buying an air conditioning system, you have to know the size of your room and the space where your air conditioner will be installed. But now let’s see some tips on how to choose the best air conditioner for your family and your home.

Window air conditioner units

A great benefit of buying a window air conditioner unit is that it comes in different sizes. Depending on the size of the room you wish to cool, a window air conditioner unit can be very effective if you choose the right size. Also, even though this type of units is usually heavy, they are easy to install, especially if your house has some modern windows. On the other hand, if you have older windows, you may find it difficult to install a window air conditioner unit, but it is not impossible. Of course, you will need to make some modifications in order to support the air conditioner in the window, but this is not an unachievable thing. The main benefit of a window air conditioner unit is that it actually costs little to run, but there is also a drawback when it comes to this type of air conditioning system – window air conditioner units are bulky.

Portable air conditioner units

Some may say that a window air conditioner unit is very outdated and inefficient, so this is where portable air conditioner units make an appearance. As opposed to the first type of air conditioning system, a portable air conditioner unit does not have to sit in the window. Moreover, a portable air conditioner unit looks like a mini-fridge and you can set the temperature as you wish. While a window air conditioner unit is blowing cool air which goes out into the atmosphere, a portable air conditioner unit can be rolled around and also, you can easily change the direction where the cool air goes. Moreover, a portable air conditioner unit is more expensive than a window air conditioner unit, so when something breaks down, you need to make sure that you can afford to pay for reparations. For example, an air conditioner has washers which can easily be replaced in case something happens, and it is best to replace them with superior rubber washers.

Ductless/Split air conditioner units

Last but not least, a ductless air conditioner unit is a wall-mounted air conditioner which has an outside compressor. This option is great for people who refuse to install a window air conditioner unit or, at the same time, cannot afford a portable air conditioner unit. This type of air conditioning system is efficient as well as less audible and visible, and you can also save on your bills
